Potato Stamping

This last Saturday I spent the morning with Jon cutting stamps from potatoes. I’m convinced now that potatoes are an effective, low-cost way to learn how to carve stamps. Unlike cutting a linoleum block, I didn’t feel guilty when I made an irreversible mistake; just chuck the potato and start again.

    These are wonderful. Quite elaborate. If my art room wasn’t a complete mess from Saturday’s drain problem, I would run right down and carve some. I might just shovel my way to my table and do it anyway!
